The Assessment and What it Measures

The Energy Leadership Index assessment provides insights into how you show up in various aspects of your life. It measures your potential leadership ability by your level of consciousness – your awareness about who you are and what life is about.

The assessment measures your ability to lead people, including yourself, to take positive, productive, and sustainable action. The assessment also measures how involved or engaged you are in your roles and tasks on the job and at home.

Finally, the assessment shows your energetic reaction to stress so that you can recognize and, if desired, modify that reaction.

The Energy Leadership Index (E.L.I.) Assessment

There are two main types of assessments: Personality and Attitu[1]dinal. Personality assessments, such as Myers Briggs and D.I.S.C. are very valuable tools that pinpoint certain personality types so that people can have more of an understanding about what their strengths and weaknesses are. By understanding your personality and how it relates to what you do, you can adapt your behavior to “work with what you have” to function effectively.

The E.L.I. is an attitudinal assessment, which is based on an energy/action model. This assessment differs from personality assessments as it is not intended to label a person and have them work well within that label. Instead, it measures your level of energy based on your attitude, or perception and perspec[1]tive of your world. Because attitude is subjective, it can be altered. By working with a coach using the E.L.I., you can alter your attitude and perspective, make a shift in your consciousness, and increase your energy as the result. T

There are no limits as to the potential growth that you can achieve. Once you realize that your level of consciousness is directly related to your actions, you can move from functioning effectively to functioning optimally. The Dynamics of Energy Interplay No one has all their energy in one area. Each person will most likely have some energy in most or all of the levels. Each level of energy affects the others in a phenomenon called energy interplay. Energy interplay occurs both normally and under stress. A person has a primary, secondary, tertiary, etc., energy normally, and a primary, secondary, tertiary, etc., energy under stress. The primary energy on the Energetic Stress Reaction chart is referred to as a person’s default.

No one’s energy is consistent through all areas of life. A person’s Energetic Presentation shifts constantly in response to stimuli. When people are not stressed, their Energetic Presentations most likely resemble their Energetic Profile graph. When stressed, their Energetic Presentations look more like the Energetic Stress Reaction graph. For example, someone could be in Level 4 in their home relationships and Level 2 in their relationships at work. People can even be at Level 2 in one aspect of their job, and Level 5 in another.

People’s energy is either in the past or present. In any area of life, their thoughts may be affected by a past experience (neutral, painful, or pleasurable), which would then shape their current view.

One goal as an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner is to have clients capitalize on anabolic experiences, either current or past, and the thoughts and emotions that go along with those experiences to utilize them in their current life.

Another goal is to identify which catabolic thoughts stemming from past experiences are currently affecting clients, and have people shift their perspective of the past event, to free them up to be present, in the moment. Note: any well-functioning person (meaning someone who is able to function well enough in each aspect of life) should be able to reframe and/or rationalize a painful experience in order to learn from it. Those who cannot, and are stuck, may need therapeutic help.

Overall, the goal of this work is to educate and support clients so that they are able to consciously choose their Energetic Presentations, thus moving their Energetic Stress Reactions closer to their overall Energetic Profiles.
